The Cardboard Selling Masterclass

Who this course is for

This course is for the collector who has been in the hobby long enough to know they want more from it — but has been running the operation like a hobby and wondering why it doesn't feel like a business.

If you have cards sitting in a box with no SKU system, if your card profits and card expenses are mixed in your personal bank account, if you don't know your inventory turn rate — this course is for you.

Module 1: Defining Your Success Profile

The hobby has multiple viable success profiles, and conflating them leads to wrong decisions. This module defines five profiles — from the Self-Sustaining Collector (hobby pays for itself) to the Empire Builder (full-time operation with staff and warehouses) — and helps you identify which one matches your goals, available time, and capital.

The critical point: each profile requires different habits and different infrastructure. A side-income reseller and a full-time dealer need completely different systems. Building the wrong system for your profile is the most common reason card businesses stall.

Deliverable: Success Profile Assessment Worksheet

Module 2: The Business Infrastructure Setup

The single biggest unlock in card reselling is a separate bank account and debit card exclusively for the business. This does three things that matter enormously: it creates absolute clarity on net profit, it simplifies tax preparation, and it establishes the "profit motive" required by the IRS for the operation to be classified as a business rather than a hobby.

This module covers: business bank account setup, expense tracking categories, the card-specific P&L template, and basic quarterly tax preparation concepts for resellers.

Deliverable: Card Business P&L Template (spreadsheet)

Module 3: Inventory Management and the SKU System

Every professional reseller knows their inventory. Hobbyists often don't. The difference is a SKU (Stock-Keeping Unit) system — a unique identifier assigned to every card that makes picking, packing, and listing error-free.

This module covers the SKU structure that works for sports cards: how to format it, where to place it in your eBay listing title (last 4–5 characters for maximum visibility), and how to organize physical inventory so any card can be found in under 30 seconds.

Deliverable: SKU System Setup Guide + eBay Title SKU Integration Template

Module 4: The eBay Store Architecture

Your eBay store structure determines how buyers navigate your inventory and how the algorithm surfaces your listings. This module covers the store category structure that matches buyer search behavior, the listing templates that reduce per-card setup time from 8 minutes to 90 seconds, and the pricing strategy for different card tiers.

Builds directly on the eBay SEO how-to guide — this module goes deeper into store-level optimization.

Deliverable: eBay Store Category Template + 30-card Listing Template Pack

Module 5: The 75-Day Turn Rule and Cash Flow Management

Active inventory that doesn't sell within 75 days is dead capital. The 75-Day Turn Rule is a discipline that forces regular price reviews, end-of-season liquidations, and the redeployment of slow capital into faster-moving inventory.

This module covers: the turn rate calculation, the markdown schedule (price review at day 30, 50, 75), when to accept a loss versus hold, and seasonal inventory patterns for basketball and football cards.

Deliverable: 75-Day Turn Tracker (spreadsheet)

Module 6: Portfolio Diversification — The 20/30/50/60 Framework

A deep dive into the rule introduced in the how-to guide, with specific application to resellers managing active inventory rather than long-term collection holds. The reseller version of diversification is about exposure management, not just personal preference.

Deliverable: Portfolio Diversification Dashboard (pre-built, see separate product)

Module 7: Sourcing Systems

The three primary sourcing channels — card shows, estate sales, and online arbitrage — each have specific workflows, risk profiles, and capital requirements. This module covers all three with detailed protocols, including the Sourcing Boldness Framework for unlocking hidden inventory.

Deliverable: Sourcing Evaluation Checklist + Estate Sale Script Reference

Module 8: Scaling and the Path to Full-Time

The final module addresses the transition from part-time to full-time reselling: the revenue targets, the infrastructure requirements, the staffing considerations (when to hire help for packing and listing), and the mental framework for treating the business like a business.

Deliverable: Full-Time Reseller Readiness Assessment
