What Attributes Make a Transcendant Talent?

How the scorecard works

Score any player 1–3 on each of four dimensions. The spreadsheet calculates a weighted composite score and returns a recommendation tier.

Age (weight: 25%) — scored by draft age relative to historical comps. A 19-year-old #1 pick scores 3. A 23-year-old scores 1.

Draft Pedigree (weight: 30%) — top-3 picks score 3, picks 4–10 score 2, picks 11+ score 1. For undrafted players, a special evaluation rubric applies.

Persona (weight: 25%) — media presence, cultural crossover signals, nickname recognition, and early sponsorship activity. Scored with a guided rubric including yes/no qualifier questions.

Winning (weight: 20%) — championship pedigree at any level: high school nationals, major conference NCAA title, international gold medals. Team winning culture also scored.

Historical calibration tab: The spreadsheet includes pre-scored profiles for LeBron James (2003), Patrick Mahomes (2017), Victor Wembanyama (2023), Luka Doncic (2018), and 10 other players. See what score the framework would have produced before their career confirmation — and how the scores correlated with card value appreciation.
